Also called the “Pearl of the Andaman”, Phuket with its area of 810 km2 is the largest and most populous island of all Thailand. The beautiful rugged coastline that characterizes it consists of wide sandy bays, rocky peninsulas, granite cliffs and dense tropical vegetation. Inside the island stretch instead the classic Asian rice fields, rubber plantations (rubber tree), cocoa, pineapple, coconut palms and a vast rainforest.

What to do during your holiday in Phuket

Phuket has a composite culture influences the result of Chinese, Portuguese and sea gipsy  (in particular by means of chaolei, a nomadic people of the sea). The tsunami that hit Phuket in 2004 seems to have passed without trace, everything ‘was rebuilt faster and better than it was previously. The island has been equipped with various alarm systems to avoid future recurrence of this calamity and then the whole island has been made safe.

Phuket Tourism

Phuket is really the island of a thousand corners and tourist beaches that every year are transformed according to the fashions of the moment and the changes imposed by the tourism evolving. In Phuket there are two seasons, the rainy season that runs from May to September (but rain usually does not last more than a couple of hours) and the dry season which runs from October to April with optimum temperatures and sunny days.

Patong Beach

Patong Beach is the most popular destination of the island of Phuket, a myriad of souvenir shops and markets of many colours follow one another without interruption throughout the bay. Its cross instead of the board walk are numerous massage parlours (traditional and not), bar and dancing clubs that come alive at sunset, fine western restaurants along with those local. Can not count the number of restaurants, where you can find every type of delicacy, from cooking fish until the French cuisine, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Arabic and Japanese. At sunset, life moves in the main streets of the city come to life where numerous rock and jazz bar (including the famous Hard Rock Cafe) and lots of music and live entertainment.

The heart of the night life of Patong is the famous Bangla Road and Soi San Sabai: streets dotted with red-light bars and countless restaurants. Then there are various clubs and discotheques, theatres: the night of Patong will not fail to amaze you!

Karon Beach

Moving to the south of the west coast of Phuket, you reach the town of Karon Beach. Karon Beach is the second largest of Phuket than Patong is much quieter and therefore more suitable for families . Even in Karon Beach you can find numerous local and international restaurants, souvenir shops and the usual typical markets of Thailand.

In one of the cross along the beach you should visit the one that leads to a small community of artists. In this way painters and sculptors Thais they have given rise to a small neighbourhood of huts, pubs and art galleries in which they live and work. Karon Beach is very quiet and you will have the opportunity to be served cocktails, frozen drinks, fruit and food right on the beach under an umbrella.

Karon Beach, with its unique sand, white and soft offers ideal conditions for a seaside holiday, especially in high season months (November to April), during the rainy season can be dangerous to swim because of the surf (we recommend to pay attention to the flags on display at the beach, as in Europe, the “red” indicates danger), but in this case you can still enjoy the pools in each Hotel and Resort.

Kata Beach

South of Karon Beach is the most interesting and pleasant Kata, a place that attracts many visitors for its white sands and its emerald waters. Very popular with families , Kata Beach has a beautiful beach surrounded by coconut palms, several local restaurants and international and a pleasant night life. From Kata Beach you can enjoy a beautiful sunset from May to October and the beach becomes a regular destination for surfers in search of the magnificent waves of the Andaman Sea. A Kata Beach there are of course a variety of souvenir shops and traditional Thai markets where you can find all kinds of merchandise, from crafts to clothing!

Kata Noi Beach

This charming bay is located just south from Kata Beach. Here you can relax, walk on the soft sand, do snorkelling, swimming or enjoy other water sports. Kata Noi is a very popular with surfers, especially during the rainy season (May to October). A few minutes walk to the beach of Nai Harn is a vantage point from which you can admire the bay of Karon, Kata and Kata Noi. Kata Noi is located on Kata Hotels Tani who is considered one of the best of the island of Phuket.

Kamala Beach

Kamala Beach is a very picturesque bay that is located 9 km North of Patong Beach. Despite the proximity to Patong here the life seems to have stopped and runs quiet and sleepy as the rest of Thailand. People calm and relaxed, sunsets over the sea, a beautiful beach, water clear and transparent are just some of the reasons that make the small bay of Kamala a unique and unforgettable. The bay is perfect for a family holiday, then it allows to swim in the crystal clear waters and explore a stunning coral reef just meters from the beach. The middle of Kamala Bay is characterized by a small village with small resorts scattered all along the beach. The atmosphere is that of an old fishing village, with the presence of great outdoor restaurants and bars and pubs where you can spend pleasant evenings. A typical and picturesque market is held in Kamala twice a week and is an excellent opportunity for recreation for every tourist. At Kamala Beach is the famous Phuket Fantasea, a huge Cultural Theme Park that offers breathtaking evening shows that you should really not be missed.

Laem Sing Beach

300 m of white sand framed by lush tropical vegetation and bathed by a blue sea. This small picturesque bay is a more north of Kamala Beach and is one of the stages of the Safari Beach, a hike that shows tourists the most beautiful places on the island of Phuket. In addition to the boat, the small and unspoilt cove is a few minutes walk through a small path. The natural beauty of this beach is enhanced by numerous rock formations that are found scattered and make the guests one of the most beautiful in Phuket to practice snorkelling.
